Kellie Hunt Blue

Kellie Hunt Blue was elected to the UNC BOG in 2017 and currently serves as the vice-chair for the Committee on Personnel and Tenure. The Robeson County finance director, Blue has served Robeson County since 1997 in many different capacities. She previously worked as an internal auditor with Southern National Bank in Lumberton and has been awarded for her financial reporting in Lumberton.

Blue is a graduate of UNC-Pembroke and studied accounting at UNC-Chapel Hill.  She was elected chair of the UNC-Pembroke Board of Trustees in 2015 after serving on the Board since 2011.

Blue’s time on the Board of Governors has been largely free of controversy. In response to the debate about Silent Sam, Blue said that “it’s time to concentrate on the original task before us, that being educating students and performing transformative research at our universities.” Blue did sign a letter in 2017 in which 15 members of the Board of Governors “scolded” UNC President Margaret Spellings and Board Chair Lou Bissette for their handling of issues around Silent Sam.
